A
Message from Ed Reder, President and Founder:
Hi
everybody!
Hello,
and thank you for touring the ASA website! If you're
looking for lots of interesting and exciting things
to do in your life, and plenty of fun, active people
to do them with, you've come to the right place.
It's
been my pleasure to over-see this wonderful club since
1985 and what a fantastic journey it has been. Good
times, laughter, camaraderie and plenty of new friends…that's
the wonderful world of being single in Southern California
and having no limit on the variety of activity to choose
from. From my eyes I have seen lasting friendships form;
people who went from shy to confident after a very short
time; and I've seen the spark and smile that began a
life-long commitment. It's been a wonderful and very
rewarding experience.
Of
course, there is work behind the scenes. Our staff now
includes 3 full-time employees plus myself in addition
to our social
directors and our member volunteers. When we write our
newsletters, we bring in 3 extra full-time employees
and coordinate 45+ events a week between the 3 chapters
of ASA! We pride ourselves on the hours and hours of
time it takes to research our events, and the creativity
and effort that goes into our 16-page newsletters (one
for each county).
We have been told, many times, from people who have
lived in other parts of the country, that there is not
another singles group ANYWHERE that can touch our newsletter
and that feels great.
Where
is the club going from here? Before we branch out and
start more ASA chapters we are devoted first to continue
to improve what we have here. We are currently working
on fine tuning our database and email capabilities.
We are also striving to improve the benefits of the
membership with the "new technology", which to us, seems
perfectly suited to getting people organized.
My
advice to you is not to just give this club a chance,
but to give it your best and help make it "your club".
With ASA you can fully enjoy this time of your life.
You can always settle down and live a "normal" life,
but you can't always do what you want to do and have
so many opportunities to travel, learn new sports and
enjoy such an active social calendar. Plus, you WILL
also meet people that you will not only have fun with,
but have a lot in common with, and you know where that
can lead!
I
personally welcome you to be a part of our fine club.
You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
Sincerely,
Ed Reder
