7th ANNUAL ROSARITO WEEKEND
FRI - SUN, JUNE 15th - 17th

Rosarito 29.jpg (101491 bytes)This is always our biggest weekend trip of the year and it sure makes for a great SUMMER KICK-OFF!  Everybody loves coming down to Mexico to get a little wild and crazy.  If you don’t mind watching, and maybe participating in, a weekend of drinking and partying, this is a great weekend.  Actually, we do play plenty of sports too including tennis, volleyball, bicycling, horseback riding, golf and more. It doesn’t hurt having condos right on the sand in Rosarito, a party town to begin with, plus, it’s affordable and close (just 15 minutes past the border!).  It’s another very well organized trip with a cocktail party, banquet dinner at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, barbecue lunch and organized sports all included for just $159!  That’s a great deal!  The first 88 people stay in the beach front cabanas, the rest stay in condos at the high rise condos, part of the same property, with great views of all of Rosarito. You can send a $50 deposit now, to secure your spot, or call in with your credit card.  Balance is due by May 20th.  A full itinerary will be sent out 2 weeks before the trip.  If you have a special roommate request, please call us by 5/20.

MOOREA, TAHITI VACATION
FRI - FRI, OCTOBER 19th - 26th

sunset_cruise4.jpg (76162 bytes)Get ready for a magical place.  Here is our very special Fall vacation....a South Pacific gem.  Moorea is the most beautiful island you will ever visit.  Come with us to French Polynesia, a land of beautiful people, green canopy covered valleys, enchanted forests and lush volcanic peaks.  It’s very green, and surrounded by a perfect reef and multi-blue/ turquoise waters.  You will fall in love with this place. Many people prefer this island even over Bora Bora (we’ll go there someday though).  We’ll enjoy crystal clear waters for diving (shark feeding!) and snorkeling. We’ll tour the island on mopeds!  How about a hike to a beautiful waterfall!  Horseback ride on the beach!  Take a boat to a idyllic motu (island).  Rent a bike and cruise along the most beautiful tropical coastline in the world!  There’s plenty to do in Moorea including going in to Club Med for the day or evening (within walking distance from our hotel).  This was the destination that came out on top of our email poll, and we’re happy to have put together an incredible package - a beachfront property on a budget.  We’ll fly out on Friday afternoon non-stop 8-1/2 hours, land in Tahiti around 7:30, then take a plane 10 minutes to Moorea.  Our hotel, The Moorea Village is set on a beautiful beach next to a lagoon and motus (tiny islands) just off the shore.  It’s a simple (3-star) thatched roof bungalow style hotel with a pool run by a Tahitian family.   Total price with 7-nights and airfare is just $1179!!  That is a great group discount price!  Upgrade to a beachfront unit for just $100 more!  Can you pull it off?  If you’re ready to close the year 2000 off with a bang?  Then don’t miss this chance for another wonderful ASA vacation to remember!  Send $200 deposit by August 3rd to RSVP.  Final payment must be paid by check not later than September 3rd. Ski season is approaching, and we’re going to be all over it. Mark your calendar and send in those deposits - here are our Mammoth dates for the ’99/ ’00 season. Once again we’ll be staying at Mammoth Sierra Townhomes which are very nice condos with a nice Jacuzzi on the shuttle route and convenient to shopping and restaurants. Lift tickets are now $52, so if you’d like to prepay $244 and have the lift tickets included, you will save some money. If you’ve never been to Mammoth, it’s the best...absolutely the greatest skiing in the west with plenty of runs for every ability level. Their gondola project is now complete with a new building, so you don’t need to get off at mid-chalet. Never been skiing? No problem, you’ll have other people to learn with. How about trying snowboarding?! We organize dinner on Saturday night along with dancing. We’ll start off together in the mornings and meet up again at lunch time. If you think you’re going to ski Mammoth at least 5 times this season, then consider purchasing a Mammoth Club Card. They are $60 before 10/15 and will save you $13 a day. Call 888-4-MAMMOTH. You can check on ski conditions and trails on their web site: www.mammoth-mtn.com An itinerary will be sent out to you a week before the trip with directions to our pickup locations and phone numbers of other people coming. What if there’s no snow? We can cancel our trip 2 weeks before without a problem. Please sign up early so we can keep our bus exclusively ASA! Full payment for the December trip is due by November 28th. You can send just $50 deposit on the others with the balance due on December 27 for the January trip. You know what we say in ASA....Powder to the people!

DELUXE 3-DAY MAMMOTH TRIP

Here’s another great ski option for a lucky dozen people. We’ve got an absolutely beautiful, HUGE home rented for this 3-day trip, leaving on Friday night and staying through Monday! This is a real treat since this is a past member’s home and is not part of a rental program. It’s a gorgeous home filled with super cool nic-nacs and art that you just don’t get in a regular rental property. We can make use of the gourmet kitchen for meals, entertainment center, Jacuzzi, pool table and other amenities. Cost for this great trip is just $145! Send a check to our mailing address to sign up. We’ll send out a trip letter with bedding assignments a week before. Since 2 of the bedrooms have just a queen, couples, or close friends are welcome! This sold out early last year. Let us know if you can drive.

PRESIDENT’S WEEKEND UTAH SKI TRIP

sylvia ski.jpg (104604 bytes) This year we’ll be joining a group on their annual Utah trip over President’s Weekend. They get over 100 people each year for this trip and it’s really priced right. We’ve got great air fare blocked (6 p.m.) out of LAX and Orange County and will be able to ski 3 full days. Utah sure has great runs for every ability level and wonderful powder. Plus, they don’t get the huge lift lines during major holiday weekends like Mammoth or Tahoe! We’re staying at the Shilo Inn in Salt Lake City. These are nice rooms with microwaves and mini refrigs. We’ll have chartered bus transport to a different ski resort every day including Snow Bird, Alta and The Canyons in Deer Valley. Cost of just $449 ($469 from OC) which includes lift tickets, daily breakfast and even 2 cocktails each evening! You can’t beat that! To sign up send a $100 deposit now.

 WHISTLER SKI VACATION

Here’s another fabulous ski vacation! The skiing and beauty of this city have made it world famous. This is a 4-night trip, staying in 2-bedroom condos (4 per condo) walking distance to both Whistler & Blackholm.  Price of $689 includes air from LAX, a 3 day lift pass (you can ski 4 days) and 2 ski Apres parties.  We are joining New Horizon Tours for this trip which normally has over 150 in attendance!  Send $100 deposit now with balance due 1/15 (please pay departure tax of $30 with your balance).

THAILAND VACATION

Since we had 72 people on last year’s Greece vacation, we figured we could easily justify offering more than one exotic vacation this year. Here’s the first - Thailand.  This country is exotic, beautiful, and thrillingly different, plus, it’s quite a bargain hunters paradise. This trip will include 3-nights in Bangkok, 2 nights Chiang Mai (1st on arrival, 2 at end) and 3 nights Phuket. Chiang Mai is located in a lush valley surrounded by verdant, forest hills. This is the “Shangri-La” of Thailand, noted for its history, culture, antique temples and unique traditional handicrafts. We’ll take a tour of one of the most magnificent city temples. Optional tours include an elephant ride through the forest to the Palong Hilltribe people and floating down river on bamboo rafts! From there we fly to Phuket, Thailand’s largest island and renowned for its beautiful beaches, clear blue seas with colorful coral reefs & excellent seafood. Optional tours include excursions to Phi Phi Island (site of “The Beach”), and Phangna Bay with its weird limestone outcrops. Then it’s back to Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital. Here we’ll discover temples and sumptuous Royal Palaces and explore the bustling life on the Chao Phraya River and canals surrounding the city. Come join us, and the singles from New Horizon tours for this 10 days/8 night exotic vacation! Cost of $1,379 includes all air fares on Thai Airlines, city tours in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, 7 Buffet breakfasts, transfers between airport and hotel, all service charges and hotel taxes. To sign up, please send a check for $200 along with your legal name that appears on your passport (please also pay the $41.80 departure tax with your balance).

ALASKA CRUISE

AUGUST 29th - SEPTEMBER 6th

Well, we couldn’t decide between Alaska and Europe, so we’re doing both. Yes, this makes 3 vacation choices in less than 6 months, but hey, we’re ASA and we’ve got some world class travelers here, and plenty of members to go around, so let's see what happens.  We received a good group quote for this 7-day Alaska cruise from Carnival Cruises. We’ll be on their brand new ship called “Spirit” out of Vancouver for this tour of all the key areas including Inside Passage;  Ketchikan, Alaska’s fourth-largest city; Endicott/Tracy Arm and a chance to watch Sawyer Glacier carving in an impressive display of cascading ice and roaring thunder; Juneau, with its winding, narrow streets that are full of charm and mixed with cosmopolitan flair, interesting museums and sophisticated shops; Skagway, with mountains, ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 feet in height that seem to rise straight up from the fjord. Sitka, Prince William Sound, College Fjord, Seward, and then to Anchorage.  We fly back from Anchorage! This is the perfect time of year too, with nice weather, fewer families and we’ll also be taking advantage of Labor Day Weekend!  Cost, with airfare from LAX and inside cabin is just $1,279.  That does not include port charges, departure fees and taxes ($254).  That’s actually quite a savings from the regular brochure rate.  If you’d like to have an ocean view cabin, that would be just $250 additional. We will also offer a pre-cruise extension option for Vancouver.  New Horizon Tours will be participating with us to add more active singles!  We have a variety of cabins blocked now for up to 40 people. If you’re in, send a refundable deposit (up until 90 days from departure) of $100.  An additional $200 deposit will be due March 1st.  Visit the following web site for more details on this trip: www.athleticsingles.com/alaska.
